  1. BTW, the Madelyn Blair link has rottted. The site has some kind of dynamic navigation where the url is not being updated, so there’s still a books tab in the header, but no separate link for books. Though there is a “page”.

  2. I have recently been reading Parker Palmer’s book ‘The Courage to Teach’, and he talks about the loneliness and frustration mentioned above. In his final chapter in particular, he thinks about how we can translate personal transformation into structural/systemic transformation via the process of movements. He shares how he would often visit institutions as a guest lecturer and have individuals come up to him after his talks and tell him how they agreed with his ideas but were the ‘only one’ at the whole institution who had those ideas. In reality, there were lots of individual ‘only ones’, but they weren’t aware of each other. In order to link up, one or more of them needed to broadcast their views — which, admittedly, could require a lot of confidence / courage / security, since people may not always respond favourably if you’re pushing for change. The point is that nobody was actually *alone* — they just thought they were.

  3. One area I have been a bit steeped in is the caring and the organizing of affairs for my 92 year old Mom, of which this has naturally has spilled over into my own endeavor, e.g., updating my living trust, creating a “life file” for a third-party to wayfind among my belongings, etc.

Doug Warren is a fellow seeker. I met/know Doug in early 2022 as part of the PKM Linking Your Thinking community. Doug turned 80 years old last summer. Earlier in 2025, he started what he called his Family Knowledge Management (FKM), motivated “… on how to provide information needed by my family when my death comes, as well as answers that bring them clarity and resolution.”

Doug has shared his efforts on his blog – https://blog.warrenweb.net/fkm/. Similarly, I intend to share/blog about my FKM endeavors, which includes not only about creating accessible wayfinding but also related activities of which I’m engaged, e.g., end of life cleaning/decluttering, digital legacy planning, caregiving, etc.
